Interview

The “interview” essay was a very interesting piece of work. It is set up almost as what seems like three different essays. The beginning brings in a lot of historical information about bowling. After the beginning it goes on to describe a Thursday night at a bowling alley. On this Thursday night there is a women’s bowling league. The environment is described as well as several people within the space. In this section there is some interaction between the author and the women at the bowling league. One of the women described and talked to, is Patty who is in her 60’s. The next section is titled “All in the Family”. In this section a quiet Monday night at the bowling alley is described. Here the author talks with one of the workers Carol and learns how the bowling alley is owned by a family and how Carol loves bowling and works there part time. Overall the essay was well written and interesting. The only aspect that I found weird was the historical background about bowling in the beginning.

  1. i liked how she divided up the essay too. i liked that she gave a historical background to the sport, it was a great way to open. The description of the atmosphere made it seem as if id been there too.
